On July 20th, 2014, Joey Votto from the Cincinnati Reds came back to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Cincinnati to read books to our families.  This was exactly one year to the day that he visited the House last year, and became the first person to read the first published copy of “There’s Something […]

Good Kids On The Block

I haven’t watched the 6pm news in years.  There, I said it.  Judge away. The evening news is full of murder, crime, abuse, robberies, scandal, politics…and that’s just the first ten minutes.  I respect that this is what the news is for, their job, it’s necessary to know, etc.  However, it’s hard to see all […]

So far, May has come in like a Lion – and gratefully so! She asked about the inspiration behind the book, my career, […]

JEC Book Drive Success!

For one week, we asked people to help bring copies of “There’s Something Different About My Hair” to the Jimmy Everest Center in Oklahoma.  This is the medical center where Rheann, Ainsley, and Riley receive treatment for cancer. It was beyond a success: people from over 5 countries came together to donate 56 books and […]

Reaching new faces!

Rheann, Ainsley, and Riley all battling forms of Cancer and treated at the Jimmy Everest Center in Oklahoma. We raised money for each girl and over 5 countries came together to send 60 books to other children at the JEC!

Recently, I learned about three sweet girls from Oklahoma who are all fighting different types of cancer.  They were all asked to take part in a photography project that took on a life of its own.  Upon meeting each other, Riley, Ainsley, and Rheann became friends.  Maybe it was the lace, or the pearls, or the fact […]

Lesson from Lauren

Megan

This weekend, I had the pleasure of being included in an event to raise money for “Love 4 Lauren.”  This foundation was set up in memory of Lauren, an 8 year old beauty who passed away last year from Ovarian Germ Cell Cancer.  Yes, you read that correctly – Ovarian Cancer.  As I sat signing […]

Raising money for Parker, one book at a time!

Parker, 7 months battling Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma

“We make a living by what we get.  We make a life by what we give.”  ~ Winston Churchill Every single day, we have choices.  Most of us are fortunate to choose between what fuel we put in our tank, what size coffee to order, which type of organic fruit to buy, how many bites […]
